Student Internship Program Numerous opportunities are available within Multnomah County Environmental Health Services for students to gain vital career experience while contributing to the mission of healthy people and healthy communities. Multnomah County’s Internship program is proud to be the 2006 National Environmental Health Innovative Practice award recipient! Why participate in an internship with us?
What kinds of internships do you offer? Our internship is designed to expose students to a broad range of environmental health programs and services. It also provides students an opportunity to engage in an interactive, Environmental Health Education project, so they can develop on-the-job skills and experience. For a description of our internship, please review our Internship Scope of Work. When are internships offered? Two internships are offered each academic term: spring, summer, fall and winter. The Internship Program Calendar details screening and placement deadlines. What Types of Projects will I Work on During My Internship? An intern will select one or more of the following projects to work on during their internship. Interns will have an opportunity to discuss the projects more in depth during the internship interview and placement process.
Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot offer a paid internship, but will promise invaluable experience. How do I apply?
You can download our Workforce Development Post-secondary Internship Manual to learn more about how we developed our program. We created this as a resource to assist other jurisdictions to create their own environmental health internship program. The manual provides step-by-step instructions on how to develop and implement an environmental health internship program and provides the tools necessary to get started. We are pleased to offer this product to other jurisdictions in an effort to support workforce development capacity building efforts nationally. |
